They say you can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends. Then why did you choose THAT gang of scurvy fiends to be your buddies? You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones who drink the last beer in the fridge. The ones who borrow your car and leave it dangling from a railroad trestle. The ones who steal your girlfriends before you have a chance to dump them.
But whaddya gonna do? Let's face it, you don't have THAT much choice when it comes to picking friends. There are certain geographic and temporal restrictions that limit how many people you can become friends with. Usually its the guys and gals who tend to cluster in the same places you do. Over time, if the sound of their voices don't make you go postal, they become your friends. If their existence on this planet DOES make you want to commit some kind of atrocity, they become your Enemies. And as we all know, picking the right enemies can be even more important (and enjoyable) than picking the right friends.
So you have this group of friends. What do you do with them? Why, exploit them, of course! Remember, THEY have beer in their fridge too--imported beer! They drive cars too, often cars that are nicer than your own! And it's possible that the girls you steal from them will be more alluring than those unfortunate enough to fall into your orbit. Just as people are said to have "married up" when they get hitched to someone WAY out of their league, it's possible to "friend up" as well. Lord knows I have. Thanks to my social network I get free medical advice, good deals on my car insurance, cheap labor on home repairs, and access to a lake house where we go wakeboarding and zip around on JetSkis. Short of editing and photographic services, I don't bring nearly as much to the table. Which makes me the big winner!
How can you be a winner as well, even if you're a far more accomplished and interesting person than your friends? Well, one way to extract value from your pals is to ask if they're interested in playing online poker. And, if they are, tell them to come play with us at UltimateBet. Because if you do, and they do, you could win yourself a seat to this year's Aruba Poker Classic.
From now until September 16th, every time you Refer a Friend to UltimateBet you'll get points that could win you entry into two $750 freerolls for the Classic. They'll be held on September 20th and 21st, and the winners of the freerolls will play heads-up for a seat in Aruba. How do you earn points? The more players you refer, and the more they play, the more points you accumulate.
You can find more info about our Refer a Friend promotion here, and then you'll have the rest of the afternoon to get on the horn and call all your friends (even the people you only pretend to be friends with). And if you get enough of them to play here at UB and you take care of business in the freerolls, you could soon be seeing your friends in a whole new way--in your rear-view mirror, rapidly disappearing, as you drive to the airport for your flight to Aruba. Where you can make a bunch of new, and improved, friends.
